So much as gone wrong with this team, from the football house to the coaching crew to the players.. I wonder if the coaching crew, particularly coach Vogts understood firstly Nigerian soccer and Players and secondly African soccer and Players ... Just like in my first write up his player selection and combination plus the use of the bench makes me wonder.Quite appalling the players apart from Mikel, Taye and Yobo have played without a heart or appreciation of this Global stage and display.
I would think after the first game the coaching crew would have adjusted to a libero / Sweeper formation adding or freeing one back to join the mid-field (numerical Superiority-- Modern day football, Eygpt)we only had Mikel as the only mid-fielder handling the ball and maybe That was the coach's call or Mikel's, he kept coming way deep in the first third to pick up balls so by the time he gets to the second or third 3rd of the field they always recover and have numbers..Odumu and Nsofor wasn't equip ed or given the tools to succeed,so they played out of sink( esp. Nsofor) and I would have love to see Kanu some 25 - 30 before the finale whistle... hopefully like coach Vogts said God might still give us another chance.. I still strongly think this team is not as bad as the result and as a lot people are beginning to think.... Up EAGLES
This Pharoahs are the best unit by far and on current global reckoning with understanding and capabilities of themselves first, of the game and their opponents.. make the necessary adjustments, I think this can only come from a well oiled machine, superb coaching crew and continuity plus preparation...Only Ghana might be able to scratch them being host and if not all hail the new African Champions....
Very impressed with the Pharaohs, playing a very complex 3-5-2 formation against an old but very experienced Lions.I knew as soon as I saw the formation, they were going to attack and attack all day... speed kills, just as the Pharoahs displayed, but I was most impressed with the organization of their back line, particularly pushing the attack line almost mid-pitch for excellent field position to carry their attacking order of the day, great control and reading of the Lions flow by Housfl, he even peeled off and joined the mid-field,Am lover of numerical superiority..I think this the team to beat and in my book good for the grand finale.. When you play a formation like this with youth on your side and with the kind of understanding the back line showed couple with the stinginess of the mid-field and no mercy attitude of their attack... Africa watch out....
I think we will make it to at-least the last 4, and are even capable of picking up the championship. But we either play a system of play that suits the caliber of players we have or a game plan that can mold, counter and break which ever team we play.. Playing a flat back 4 system like today with no assignments is not just going to get it done,Kanu is the most experience player and maybe most equip ed singularly to win a ball game for us, but is thought process got slow and since he has not always been a fast player that's something the coaching crew has to visit and I would rather have Martins ahead of Yakubu, Yakubu is a better ball handler and Martins a better finisher...and Maybe Start Osaze, I like his touch and passes.... UP EAGLES !!!
