AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini has decided to extend his playing career by signing a new one-year contract with the Rossoneri. Age-defyingThe five-times European Champion Clubs' Cup winner, who turns 40 on 26 June, was expected to retire at the end of the recently concluded Serie A season. But former Italian international Maldini, capped on 126 occasions by his country, has defied his years once again to agree a 12-month extension to remain at San Siro. Change of heart"I still have plenty of energy," he said earlier this year, the first hint that he would consider a remarkable 24th term in top-flight football, having made his league debut in 1985. "I know I should stick with what I said originally, but I think only stupid people don't change their minds because of something they said earlier." |
