Sete Gibernau´s three-day test in Mugello for Ducati will conclude today (Thursday) with the Spaniard set to get his hands on the Desmosedici GP8 used by factory team riders Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri. Up until now, Gibernau has been working with next year´s GP9 prototype alongside regular test rider Vittoriano Guareschi.
On Wednesday the former World Championship runner-up was only able to complete a handful of laps, in the afternoon, after rain once again hit the Italian circuit. In his short time on track, Gibernau did however manage to improve on his Tuesday time by more than a second, recording a fastest lap of 1´52.06. (motogp.com) |

Rossi and rivals look ahead to Donington challenge |
|
Friday, 20 June 2008 |
Three former MotoGP winners at Donington Park, and two hoping to make a big impact at the track in 2008, faced the media in Thursday afternoon´s press conference ahead of the bwin.com British Grand Prix. As well as assessing their current World Championship, each also took time to explain their own individual links with the legendary circuit. Valentino Rossi – Fiat Yamaha`I like this circuit, because I have a lot of great memories from here, especially the first victory in 500cc, in the wet with a great battle against Jeremy McWilliams. That was a long time ago and there have been many good victories. There have also been some problems too, I remember one year I won the race but in the end I only got third place, because of overtaking on a yellow flag. I have bad memories from last year because it was a difficult Grand Prix and I was in just fourth place, missing out on the podium. The podium here is always a great emotion because of the crowd, so I want to be back on there this year.´ |

Ahead of the bwin.com British Grand Prix five of this weekend´s home participants, plus one Italian along for the ride, paid a visit to the London Transport Museum on Wednesday.
Taking in the emblematic examples of British culture such as London´s famous black cabs, tube trains and red routemaster `double decker´ buses, James Toseland headed the home MotoGP representation alongside his compatriots from the British Isles Eugene Laverty, Scott Redding, Bradley Smith and Danny Webb. Whilst the quintet may have been familiar with the transport on display, it was an eye-opening experience for Italian MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso. |

Gibernau wraps up Ducati Mugello test sessions |

Former MotoGP World Championship runner-up Sete Gibernau has successfully wrapped up a three day test visit to Mugello with Ducati, the Spaniard taking advantage of good weather conditions on Thursday to clock up 50 laps and record a best time of 1´51.7.
After 48 hours of inconsistent weather the last test day saw constant sunshine in the Tuscan hills, allowing Gibernau and Vittoriano Guareschi to get through the entire programme of work they had scheduled for the Ducati Desmosedici GP9.
`I want to say thanks to Sete, who over the past two days has helped us get through a huge amount of work on the GP9 alongside the irreplaceable Vitto,´ stated Ducati Corsi´s Filippo Preziosi of Gibernau´s contribution as he returned to riding MotoGP machinery for the first time since October 2006.
`Despite a long period of inactivity Sete has adapted quickly to the unusual role of test rider and put himself through a lot of the toil that we usually reserve for Vitto. Now we will sit down with Sete and evaluate whether there will be another opportunity to test together,´ added Preziosi.
